Post Overview: Best coffee shops in Paris
I’ve often caught myself daydreaming of coffee shops in Paris, sipping my drink as I contemplate poetry, sketch or read the newspaper. But the odd thing is – I don’t do any of those things.
So what is it about coffee shops in Paris that wakes up the hopeless romantic in us? Could it be the aroma of fresh baked pastries filling the room? Maybe its the amusing people-watching that inspires us to live a richer life. Or perhaps it’s the caffeine-rush brought on by the 3 double-espressos we know we’re not supposed to have.
As bewitching as all those things are, I don’t think that’s why we’re so charmed by coffee shops in Paris. Maybe it’s the timelessness that has people hooked. I mean think about it, for hundreds of years the most brilliant minds have gathered at coffee shops in Paris and helped change the world we live in.
I believe that subconsciously, all of us who romanticize Paris cafes, want a little piece of that timelessness. We want to feel like we’re just as important as those brilliant minds, and our lives are just as fulfilling.
Or who the hell knows. Maybe I’m making something simple into a complicated matter. All I know is that during my numerous visits to the City of Light I’ve visited enough cafes my to make my bank think I’m in the coffee business.
I’ve found the best coffee shops in Paris for those who want to write the next best-selling novel as well as for those who just want to get their daily fix of caffeine.
There is a lot of ground to cover, so I hope you’re ready. Let’s get to the good stuff.
Best Coffee Shops in Paris
#25. Shakespeare and Company Café
Have you ever imagined what your life might be like as a movie? Well at Shakespeare and Company, it’s not hard to envision romance knocking at your door. Not to mention, it just so happens that this cozy bookstore houses one of the best coffee shops in Paris.
Shakespeare and Co. has been around since 1951, providing English literature to the people of Paris. It was founded by George Whitman, an American who spent most of his life in France and had a passion for the arts. While the bookstore has been around for a while, the addition of the coffee shop is still relatively new to the scene.
Opening its doors in 2015 Shakespeare & Company’s Cafe wanted to work with local producers to create a memorable cup of coffee. The Paris coffee shop was able to create its delectable specialty Mélange Shakespeare Roast thanks to collaborations with Café Lomi and Bob’s Bake Shop.
I also wanted to share that if you’re someone with dietary restrictions, some of the folks I was traveling with deemed this one of the best cafes in Paris for vegan/vegetarian bites.
“I created this bookstore like a man would write a novel, building each room like a chapter, and I like people to open the door the way they open a book, a book that leads into a magic world in their imaginations.”
George Whitman
Fun fact: Shakespeare & Company has been a literal haven for aspiring writers for decades. Writers are allowed to live at the bookstore so long as they help around the shop, read a book a day and write a one-page autobiography so the shop has a record of everyone who’s lived there. So far that number sits at around 30,000 people.
Address: 35 Rue de la Bûcherie, 75005 Paris, France

#24. Certified Café
The likelihood of a queue forming at Certified Cafe is fairly high due to the small size of the Paris coffee shops, but mark my words — the coffee is absolutely worth it!
The company has a location in St. Germain des Pres and another in Vivienne, each churning out some of the best coffee in all of Paris. Made with a gorgeous custom Slayer machine (a big deal in the coffee world) quality has met its match.
The coffee is smooth, strong and all-around pleasant. I especially recommend the Paris coffee shops for any latte lovers out there, since milk alternatives are an option here.
A memorable experience is created by the straightforward and stylish decor. And the friendly employees, who go above and beyond to guarantee that you leave satisfied are just the cherry on top.
If you have a sweet tooth like me, the Spanish Latte is not to be glossed over. Made with condensed milk, you’ll be calling your dentist in no time — so drink at your own risk.
Of the two cafes the St. Germain location has significantly more seating but it’s usually taken up by folks on laptops hard at work. The location in Vivienne has a few bistro tables outside, but don’t hold your breath. I’d say this is one of the best coffee shops in Paris to take your coffee to-go.
Address: 44-47 Pass. des Panoramas, 75002 Paris, France
#23. Partisan Café Artisanal
Strong espresso and efficient service, what more can you ask for when searching for the best coffee shops in Paris? The staff and ambiance of Partisan Café Artisanal make grabbing a cup of coffee an enjoyable daily experience.
The coffee is made with authentic, carefully selected artisanal coffee beans, with a choice of light or dark roast. Plus, grabbing a pastry here is non-negotiable despite the small assortment of sweet treats. A clear standout and fan favorite is the carrot cake (you’ll thank me later).
In a lot of ways, Partisan Café Artisanal is as modern and hipster. Finding this style and vibe at a coffee shop in Paris has proven to be difficult, so if this is something you’re after, you need look no further.
As someone whose first language is English, I found communication here to be very easy. Having staff that speaks English is never a requirement (or assumed) but it’s always a welcomed surprise.
My only complaint with this Paris Cafe is the seating options here are limited. The few chairs they do have are not comfortable enough to lounge around in so I tend to grab my coffee and go.
Address: 36 R. de Turbigo, 75003 Paris, France

#22. Café Kitsuné (Palais Royal)
You’ll have a hard time finding lists of the top cafes in Paris that don’t include Café Kitsuné. Don’t just take my word for it—it’s one of Paris’s busiest coffee shops. Every time we go by, it seems like there is a large line of people waiting patiently for a good cup of coffee.
The beautiful Café Kitsune has a welcoming atmosphere and serves excellent coffee. The design is sleek and minimalist with a modern touch that nicely complements the old-world surroundings.
As for the coffee, it has a deep, robust flavor that is neither overly acidic nor bitter. Each cup is clearly prepared with great care and a level of attention to detail that does not go unnoticed.
Of the cafes three locations in Paris I’ve visited the Palais Royal location more times than I’d like to admit. Although the Parisian coffee shop is tiny, the charming outdoor courtyard makes up for what it lacks in size.
The outdoor seating area is ideal for people-watching. And taking in the surrounding beauty is easy thanks to its special location within the Jardin du Palais Royal (a public garden once part of a 17th century palace).
Something worth noting: while this Paris coffee shop is on the pricier side, this is one of the few cafes in Paris that has milk alternatives and iced drink options.
Address: Multiple locations around Paris

#21. Le Floor
For those seeking a bit more than a simple cup of coffee, Le Floor is among the best coffee shops in Paris for lounging. This Parisian cafe ticks many boxes by serving pastries, lunch, and specialty drinks.
The interior is beautifully decorated and entices you to linger, especially if you get one of the seats in their comfy booths. The style is tastefully designed and is light, airy, and clean.
The friendly employees and the lively atmosphere undoubtedly make an impression. Expect to find folks gathering in groups, working on laptops, and catching up with friends for a chat here.
During the daytime this Paris coffee shop is quiet and charming but come evening, the space is filled with bustling Parisians and visitors looking to unwind.
Address: 42 Rue Notre Dame des Victoires, 75002 Paris, France

#20. Bonjour Jacob
Bonjour Jacob provides is a cafe within a bookstore with a chic interior, pleasant music and a vinyl collection that could impress anyone. Serving specialty coffee in such a fun space, I strongly suggest swinging by the Paris coffee shop whenever you’re nearby.
They have two enjoyable locations, each as charming as can be. One is in Saint-Germain and the other is in Saint-Martin, with the overall feel of the Paris cafes being clean and stylish.
You can easily get lost in an astounding variety of content. You’ll find magazines covering art, fashion, and lifestyle all while experiencing one of the best coffee shops in Paris.
I can’t recommend the cappuccino enough along with any of their tantalizing cookies. Even if coffee isn’t your thing, stopping by either of their Paris cafes to look around the bookstore is well worth the extra effort.
Address: 28 Rue Yves Toudic, 75010 Paris, France
#19. Café JIRISAN
Café JIRISAN is a charming little coffee shop in Paris located close to the Seine. Recognized for their mouthwatering cheesecakes, you’d be a fool to visit and not order one.
You can undoubtedly sense how much love was put into this tiny Parisian cafe. The helpful staff makes a mean cup of coffee and the interior provides a cozy, warm atmosphere that is quite relaxing.
Their cheesecakes are excellent, consistent, and big enough to share between two people. I would return in a heartbeat to sample literally every flavor on the menu (but my favorite thus far has been tiramisu).
Although this is one of the best cafes in Paris, I’ve yet to struggle finding a table. Not to mention efficiency is Café JIRISAN’s middle name and folks come in and out like clockwork.
Address: 8 Rue Saint-Paul, 75004 Paris, France

#18. KB Café Shop
When ranking the top coffee shops in Paris, I take into account two key factors:
For starters, I need the coffee to be strong, smooth and well worth the inevitable wait. Secondly, I want the full coffee-shop experience. Which means I need to try a treat that pairs with my drink (you know, in the name of science).
With that in mind, KB Café Shop is one of my personal favorite coffee shops in Paris and has knocked both categories out of the park. I still have dreams about their delectable scones! Along with their unfussy coffe that speaks for itself.
The setting of this Paris coffee shop is charming, located near Sacré-Coeur. It’s a great spot to relax and rest your feet after climbing all those stairs to the basilica.
A little tip anyone visiting during the warmer months; make sure to bring a book (or a friend) and enjoy the lovely outdoor seating area.
Address: 53 Av. Trudaine, 75009 Paris, France
#17. Back in Black.
Back in Black (by KB Coffee Roasters) is unquestionably worth a visit if you’re looking for a quiet coffee shop in Paris. The flat white and chai latte are both expertly crafted and tasty.
The staff seem to be passionate about coffee, which can’t be said for all coffee shops in Paris. They were very meticulous in their roasting, cupping, and brewing processes. The baristas repeatedly poured stunning latte art with outstanding precision. Hands of gold I tell ya!
What’s more, Back in Black appears to roast their own beans in-house and offer selections from a range of suppliers. After you’re done picking your jaw off the ground, make sure to grab a bag of beans on your way out — it’s makes for the perfect souvenir of the wonderful Paris coffee shop.
I’d be remiss not to mention that Back in Black has an exceptional food menu. It’s well worth the extra effort to sit down at a table and get the full breakfast experience. Clear standouts are the French toast banana bread and the breakfast roll.
Something to note: This Paris coffee shop DOES NOT accept American Express.
Address: 25 Rue Amelot, 75011 Paris, France

#16. Season
If you’re looking for a nice spot to relax and enjoy a leisurely brunch, Season is without a doubt one of the best cafes in Paris to visit. Something that sets Season apart from other coffee shops in Paris is the range of eggs and tea options.
By offering a range of egg cooking techniques, the skilled team at Season does a fantastic job of exceeding expectations and creating a memorable meal. The scrambled eggs are not to be taken lightly.
If restraining yourself is not an issue I suggest ordering the full meal that comes with eggs and your choice of a side. I always go for the potatoes while my husband orders the bacon. The verdict is still out on which is better, but I’ll let you be the judge.
Along with the eggs, this Parisian coffee shop also offers an impressive selection of teas. You are sure to find something on the menu that you will appreciate, whether you prefer black tea, green tea, or herbal tea.
At this Paris coffee shop, it is very evident that the goal is to make customers feel at ease.
In addition to speaking French, many of the staff members also speak English (and some even Spanish!). For those who struggle with French, this provides an open and comfortable atmosphere. However I’m a big believer that you should still try to learn the native tongue!
Address: 30 Av. Trudaine, 75009 Paris, France

#15. Carette
Chances are if you’re doing research on the best cafes in Paris, 10 out of 10 articles will have Carette high on the list, and I’m not about to be the exception.
Since opening its doors in 1927, Carette has been recognized as a Parisian landmark.
In the midst of the Roaring Twenties, Jean Carette dreamt of opening a well-respected establishment that oozed with class and status. Carette was able to achieve his dream shortly after and created an elegant tea parlor in an idyllic location. One of the biggest draws to this Paris cafe is how close it is to the Eiffel Tower.
Depending on where you’re sat you may not have direct views of The Iron Lady, but knowing you’re a short walk away is still exciting.
At Carette ordering the iconic hot chocolate is non-negotiable. The best way to describe the delicacy is a bar of chocolate completely melted down, thick as ever and served in a cup. It comes with whipped cream on the side so that you can mix spoonfuls and try and thin it out, but let’s be honest: you can’t dilute that velvety sweetness.
Here is a short list of can’t-miss items to order (that helped put this Paris cafe on the map):
- Macaroons
- Croissants
- Scrambled eggs
- The brunch + pastries in general
- Hot chocolate
Address: 4 Pl. du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, 75016 Paris, France
#14. République of Coffee
Well-known for the fresh food, large dishes with Mexican influences, and homemade sweets, République of Coffee stands amongst the top cafes in Paris.
Over the years, this Paris coffee shop has blown up thanks to the likes of social media. Both locals and visitors sing the praises of this modernized cafe and lines are all but guaranteed.
Folks with dietary limitations are welcome here since it has a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Popular options include the açaí bowl and vegan pancakes.
République of Coffee, a hipster hangout in Paris, nailed it by designing a space that invites both opportunists looking to take a photo for Instagram and others who are seeking a place to work creatively.
The room is airy, vibrant, and bright. A picture of the neon sign is begging to be taken, so make sure your camera roll is empty and be prepared for the colorful dishes that follow in tow.
Address: 2 Bd Saint-Martin, 75010 Paris, France

#13. Les Deux Magots
Les Deux Magots is a famous brasserie, which first opened its doors in 1885 offering classic French cuisine in a lovely, airy setting.
You shouldn’t be surprised by the crowds or the line out the door given that this is one of the most popular cafes in Paris. Both locals and visitors have developed a passionate, cult-like following for the iconic French café.
Les Deux Magots not only lives up to the hype, but exceeds it. Which is something that can’t be said for a lot of coffee shops in Paris!
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit for brunch, just a cup of hot chocolate and for dinner. Making me choose my favorite is akin to making someone choose their favorite child, it’s simply impossible! (I liked brunch).
At this famous Parisian cafe, each (very important) service-box is checked. Excellent waitstaff, top-notch cuisine, and a buzzing ambiance that will linger in your memory for years.
Even if you think this spot is a tourist trap or an over-hyped social media craze, stop by for a cup of coffee at least once before discounting it. You might surprise yourself with a good time at one of the best cafes in Paris.
Address: 6 Pl. Saint-Germain des Prés, 75006 Paris, France

#12. Café Carrousel
If you’re visiting Paris for the first time chances are you’ll want to check out the Lourve. You’re in luck because I’m about to let you in on one of the best cafes in Paris to help start your day before exploring the magnificent museum.
Café Carrousel’s central location gives you a front row seat to bustling Parisian streets, where the people-watching opportunities are endless. The Lourve, Jardin des Tuileries, and Palais Royal (all must-see attractions) are within walking distance.
You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t visit Café Carrousel, which is perfectly Parisian. The room’s décor is vibrant and light, and the scattered bistro chairs enhance its romantic atmosphere.
Address: 1 place des pyramides, 194 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France

#11. Coutume
When you’re in the mood to treat yourself to a nice, big stack of pancakes or a delicious plate of French toast, one of the best cafes in Paris to unleash yourself is Coutume.
The vibrant cafe provides the perfect setting for a filling brunch, offering both savory and sweet dishes as well as a variety of egg entrees.
The flat white and the pancakes with strawberry jam were clear standouts. The jam’s sweetness and the flawlessly fluffy pancakes combine to make an unforgettably delicious meal.
As for the coffee, it’s evident that Coutume is making efforts to maintain the affection it has earned in the Parisian coffee scene. For any coffee connoisseur, this is one of the top speciality coffee shops in Paris.
When I’m traveling with friends and want to make a good impression, this is one of my personal favorite coffee shops in Paris to bring them. The food is delicious and the service has always been excellent, not to mention its central location eminates all the Emily in Paris vibes.
Address: 47 Rue de Babylone, 75007 Paris, France
#10. Le Peloton Café
After running a bike touring company for over a decade, entrepreneurs Christian and Paul founded Le Peloton in 2015 with a simple mission in mind. The goal was to provide space for community, cycling, and coffee all under one roof.
The owners are passionate about coffee as well as providing a setting where locals and visitors can feel at home. They also found a way to incorporate their past with their present and offer bike rentals to those interested in biking around the city. You have the option to join a group or individually rent a ride.
The bustling Paris coffee shop is a meeting place for local artists and folks looking to make friends. They frequently hold live music events, wine and cheese nights, and pop-up shops.
This is among the best coffee shops in Paris for people seeking a sense of belonging and friendly faces. There are many English-speaking individuals on staff who are happy to assist.
Even if it’s just for the day, I encourage you to swing by one of the best coffee shops in Paris to rent a bike (or just order a great cup of coffee!).
“A PELOTON IS A GROUP OF CYCLISTS WHO RIDE CLOSE TOGETHER TO REDUCE WIND RESISTANCE, SAVE ENERGY, AND BUILD MOMENTUM AS THEY RIDE.
WE BELIEVE THE SAME IS TRUE IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE CAN GO A LOT FARTHER FOR A LOT LONGER WHEN WE DON’T HAVE TO NAVIGATE THE COURSE ON OUR OWN. WE’RE BETTER TOGETHER.”
Le peloton cafe
Address: 17 Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, 75004 Paris, France

#9. Laïzé Sainte-avoye
Of all the positive and the aesthetically pleasing Paris cafes, Laïzé Sainte-avoye should not be missed. It’s one of the few coffee shops in Paris that brought the delightful fusion of Taiwanese culture to the city.
The spot is so small you might even miss it if it wasn’t for the smell of coffee pulling you in from the street. However, do not assume for a second that the modest size indicates a lack of quality.
The Paris Cafe exudes a blend of old and rustic, yet elegant vibes. It’s just a simple, honest, coffee shop in Paris that values its drinks highly and finds charm in imperfections.
I can honestly say it’s a one of a kind, hidden gem coffee shop in Paris. The quality is reflected in the price so expect to pay a little more, but it’s worth it.
As one of the best coffee shops in Paris, finding an empty seat will be near impossible. Instead opt to take it to-go and stroll through Les Archives Nationales’ gardens. You won’t regret it!
Address: 62 Rue du Temple, 75003 Paris, France

#8. Terres de Café
Any cookie fanatics in the house? One of the best coffee shops in Paris for mind-blowing cookies is Terres De Cafe. Fortunately, the coffee is just as amazing, but let’s be brutally honest: coffee without a sweet treat is simply wrong.
The cozy atmosphere makes for a pleasant visit, however since this is one of Paris’s most popular cafes, it will be challenging to find a seat.
It should be noted that Terres De Cafe takes great pleasure in their amazing coffee formula and will not compromise on the quality. This means changes and customazitions aren’t allowed here (no, not even a small splash of milk). When you’ve struck gold, why keep digging ya know?
The drinks here are some of the best I’ve had at any coffee shop in Paris. They’re strong, smooth and give me the burst of energy I need. Having said that, I realize that it’s not everyones cup of tea coffee, to give up control and that’s completely fine.
Go in with an open mind when trying the coffee, or opt for a different drink instead. I’m confident you’ll find something you enjoy at this Paris coffee shop; the pastries alone are enough to keep me coming back.
Address: 36 Rue des Blancs Manteaux, 75004 Paris, France

#7. Fringe
Fringe is one of the best coffee shops in Paris for Instagram pictures. I know nobody ever wants to admit it but let’s face it, we all want cute latte art and pastries.
There isn’t anything necessarily remarkable about the Paris cafe either, it’s just well lit and the pastries photograph beautifully. The granola breakfast bowls are a marketing team’s dream come true and the modern decor is simple and charming.
Even the outside is aesthetically pleasing, with its postage-sized facade welcoming you into the small Paris cafe. Fortunately the coffee and treats taste as good as the cafe looks.
However I wouldn’t visit if you’re looking for a big, satisfying meal since both the menu and portions are small. Having said that, if you just want a delicious bite you’ll be hard pressed to find a better coffee shop in Paris.
The granola breakfast bowls are seasonal so the flavors change, but I’d confidently rank the three I’ve tried among the best breakfasts I’ve had anywhere, period.
In addition to the coffee and bites Fringe partners with local photographers and showcases their work. You’ll find phenomenal pictures adorning the walls as well as photography magazines available to read.
Address: 106 Rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris, France

#6. Motors Coffee
Motors Coffee is a clean and aesthetically appealing cafe in Paris that serves a solid cup of caffeine. The staff is full of friendly faces and the service that follows is top-notch.
Clear standouts are the drip and flat white coffees, and surprisingly the matcha crept up and was one of our favorites (I’m not a huge fan). It was flavorful, smooth and had the perfect blend of texture and sweetness levels.
The only complaint (and I’m using the word complaint very loosely) is that the interior is a bit small, so hanging around inside isn’t ideal. However, there is some seating outside with a great view so it’s not a big enough deal to avoid the Paris coffee shop.
Address: 7 Rue des Halles, 75001 Paris, France

#5. Café Verlet
If you find yourself in need of a caffeine-fix after sightseeing one of the best coffee shops in Paris is Café Verlet, close to the Louvre. It is a longstanding storefront with a more than 200 years of history.
You’ll be welcomed by a charming, authentically Parisian interior that offers a wide variety of coffee, all of which can be ordered using any kind of brewing method requested.
This Paris coffee shop is also known for the broad selection of tea leaves and jams. If that wasn’t impressive enough, they also serve beans from every continent on their menu.
The sweets and cappuccinos are delightful, and with just one bite you’ll be able to taste the high-quality ingredients. They also serve food (which I have yet to try). Fortunately the coffee and pastries are tempting enough that I know I’ll return, so don’t let it be a shock if I come back with a food review. 😉
I recommend grabbing a table upstairs if you plan to stay and drink your coffee inside. There’s a stunning room with enormous windows that look out upon the lovely Haussmann structures on rue Saint-Honoré.
Address: 256 Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France

#4. Café Nuances
The first time I stumbled upon this cafe in Paris was on complete accident. My husband and I were out exploring the surrounding area when we overheard a couple near us rave about this Rose latte they just tried.
Being a professional eaves dropper, I quickly was able to pick up on the name, plug the address into my GPS and we were on our way.
To our surprise, Café Nuances had a small line forming leaving us scratching our heads thinking “has our research failed us?”. How come we didn’t know that one of the best coffee shops in Paris was a skip, hop and a jump away?
Well friends, that instantly changed because we sat in that (very brief) line, ordered two rose lattes and never looked back. Not only that, but it is now our personal mission to spread the word and let everyone know Café Nuances is not to be overlooked and is one of the best coffee shops in Paris.
The staff was beyond friendly and recommended we tried one of the cookies with our drink. Knowing I couldn’t say no to a sweet treat, my husband asked for two and we were in heaven.
Address: 25 Rue Danielle Casanova, 75001 Paris, France

#3. Matamata Coffee
If you come across Matamata, do yourself a favor and swing by this quaint Paris coffee shop for a nice cup of coffee before starting your day.
They offer excellent coffee as well as a wonderful selection of freshly baked pastries. Although there’s only a few tables you should be able to snag an open seat to rest your feet.
Between The Louvre and Pompidou Center, Matamata is conveniently tucked away on a side street on an otherwise busy shopping area of Paris.
This Paris coffee shop feels like a hidden gem. It’s the ideal location for a break and a cup of coffee to revive you. My go-to order is the flat white, but I’ll occasionally spring for just a shot of espresso since it’s so smooth.
Address: 58 Rue d’Argout, 75002 Paris, France

#2. Café de Flore
It’d be a sin to make a list of things best coffee shops in Paris and not include a visit to the renowned Café de Flore. Stopping by for a drink is one of the best things to do in St. Germain, and the envy of those who drive past the cafe.
Café de Flore is named after Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. It’s a fitting name given that that the cafe is adorned in beautiful blooms. It creates the perfect setting for a velvety cup of hot chocolate or a champagne cocktail.
After opening its doors in 1887 the iconic Paris cafe has been ready for business and hasn’t had an empty table since. The likes of Pablo Picasso, Simone de Beauvoir, and Leon Trotsky were among the ambitious and progressive visitors that the cafe was known for hosting.
Despite being one of the busiest coffee shops in Paris, a table is almost always available. In the case that there is a wait, the staff at Café de Flore does a fantastic job of keeping things moving so the wait never feels that long.
However to be entirely frank, the meals can be forgettable. To say it’s the best food you’ll find in Paris would be a lie. Because the prices are on the higher end, many folks believe that eating here is a tourist trap.
But I can confidentially say, (based off of first hand experience) you should absolutely make an effort to visit this iconic Paris coffee shop at least once.
The staff is courteous and accommodating, the atmosphere is lively and the establishment is rich in history. Even if you only stop by for a glass of wine or coffee, visiting Cafe Flore is one of the best things to do in St. Germain!
Address: 172 Bd Saint-Germain, 75006 Paris, France

#1. The Caféothèque of Paris
Debuting over 15 years ago before the current wave of hip coffee shops sprung up all over Paris, The Caféothèque of Paris is regarded as one of the city’s first specialized coffee shops.
Located near the Pont Marie station, this nice and unassuming Parisian cafe welcomes you with the delightful smell of coffee. This is one of my go-to coffee shops in Paris when I’m in the area largely due to the excellent assortment of coffees, experienced staff, and the laid-back ambiance.
Not only do they serve a wide range of coffees, they also roast their own beans. Quality is a priority over everything else and the proof is in the pudding coffee.
I’m partial to the flat white and cappuccinos they serve at this Paris Cafe. I’d even go as far as to argue that they’re some of the best in the city! It’s a bold claim and I know it, however; until you give it a fair shot — I don’t want to hear anything bad about it.
Something to note: The ordering process is a little strange; if you arrive from Rue de l’Hotel de Ville, you must first pay for your drink and then find the barista, who is in another room in the back. And if you enter off the side street, go pay first and then come back to that spot. You’ll hand the barista your receipt and then enjoy! 🙂
Address: 52 Rue de l’Hôtel de ville, 75004 Paris, France
