Oregon is no stranger to great coffee, and Bend is no exception to the rule. In fact, some of the best cafes in Bend rival those in the state’s unequivocal caffeinated darling — Portland.
Longtime readers of this website know I’m not keen on small talks. So let’s dive into my personal list of the best coffee in Bend for anyone planning a visit.
Best Coffee in Bend, Oregon
Lone Pine
When is comes to serving the best coffee in Bend, most locals would agree that Lone Pine takes the cake.
Roasting their own coffee, the knowledgeable baristas are easy-going and kind, eager to point you in the right direction if you’re feeling indecisive (hey, pre-coffee brain is a real thing!).
In terms of vibe, Lone Pine definitely earns high remarks. The large and airy industrial space is decorated with cozy furniture and gives off ambient vibes perfect for getting some work done or catching up with friends. Between the great coffee and charming vibes, Lone Pine is definitely one of the best cafes in Bend.
Local’s Tip: Lone Pine is not only one of the most charming cafes in Bend, but it also doubles as a wine bar Friday and Saturdays from 5-8. Highly recommend swinging by for reasonably-priced and delicious natural wines.
Still Vibrato Coffee Roasting
From starting out as a roastery to opening a tasting room, Still Vibrato is now a full fledged coffee shop (as on 2020) serving some of the best coffee in Bend.
Modern, airy and spacious, this Bend cafe fills with natural light during the afternoon hours, making it a natural stop for anyone in search of the best working cafes in Bend. The space oozes charming vibes that many locals find irresistible.
Local’s Tip: While visiting Still Vibrato, you’ll be a stone’s throw from Viaggio, one of the best wine bars in Bend.

Palate
You can’t drive past Palate without finding yourself intrigued to pop in. Serving Bendites since 2013, Palate uses Coava Beans (often considered one of the best coffee roasters in Oregon) to create their delectable concoctions.
If you’re feeling peckish, opt for the baked pastries from Sparrow. The Ocean Roll is what dreams are made of and you’d be remiss to pass it up.

Backporch
No list of the best coffee in Bend is complete without mentioning Backporch. Started by a lifelong local on the back porch of his home, aptly named Backporch Coffee Roasters have amassed a devote following from coffee enthusiasts.
Don’t just take my word for it, boasting 4 cafes in Bend, there’s no denying that folks can’t get enough of these delicious pours. You can opt for creative concoctions like seasonal lattes (I’m partial to the lavander) or stick with classics like Americanos and drip — there’s no wrong order at this beloved Bend cafe.
Cafe des Chutes
When it comes to the most charming cafes in Bend, Cafe des Chutes is hard to beat. Opened in 2022, this is a European-inspired Bend cafe few can resists falling in love with.
Using beans from Still Vibrato, you better believe the coffee on offer is top-notch. From standard drip to crafty drinks like lattes) is guaranteed to impress, but it’s the baked goods that keep me coming back.
I’ve fallen victim to the gravitational pull of the Oregon Roll (marionberry jam, hazelnut butter glaze) and can’t go more than 3-4 days without. They offer many Gluten Free and vegan options as well, ensuring everyone leaves well-fed and happy.
Note: Cafe des Chutes offers converts into a quaint little natural wine bar (with cocktails!) every Friday & Saturday.
Thump
Any local reading this list of the best coffee in Bend knows that Thump needs no introduction. With 3 locations in town, it seems like nobody can get enough of these freshly small-batch roasted (in-house!) beans.
Spending years perfecting the coffee making process, the name of the game at this Bend cafe is simplicity. Offering exceptional coffee alongside Metolius tea and homemade pastries, you can easily spend an entire morning content at this charming cafe.
We want everything we make, everything we provide to our people, to be worth more than what they pay for it. Not simply because of our care for craft, but because of our care for them. Don’t miss what we are saying – we believe in our work, and we believe in perfecting our product. If we’re not striving to be the best – we don’t want to play the game. But why do we play the game? We play it for our people. Our craft is not the most important thing in our world: our people are.

Sisters Coffee
Sisters Coffee has been my go to cafe in Bend for ages. Started in the neighboring town of Sisters, Oregon, they opened an outpost in the Old Mill District and now manage to serve some of the best coffee in Bend.
The biggest draw (for me personally) is the great breakfast menu. I never pass on the opportunity to get my grubby little hands on a breakfast burrito (the breakfast sandwich is great too).
