Oh my goodness, I had the MOST relaxing Sunday! We decided to visit the lavender farms in Hood River and made a full day of it.
I’ve often heard of the world famous lavender fields in Provence but COVID is quite the party pooper, so alas. The advantage for me is that I live in Portland, Oregon – which is a mere 1.5 hour drive from Hood River.
And you know what Hood River has? Lavender fields!! So, if you can’t go to Provence, I can definitely suggest visiting Oregon for endless blooms of lavender.
There’s several lavender farms to choose from in Hood River, but we ultimately chose Lavender Valley because of the stunning view of Mt. Hood. While doing the research, I was surprised to learn that admission was free.
Listen, in this day and age where alternative milk is an extra buck, I’ll take all the savings I can get!
Visitors have the opportunity to cut their own lavender bouquets for $12. Which of course we did and our home smells heavenly. I so regret not visits a lavender field earlier, hate to admit this is my first time! Needless to say, this has now become an annual tradition for us.
Oh, also worth mention – because I am such an amateur – there are a TON of bees here. But they weren’t aggressive in the slightest. In fact, when the fellow was showing us how to cut the lavender, he mentioned that they sting only if you swat at them. If you leave them be, they leave you be.
We had a heck of a time at Lavender Valley and can’t wait to return. Hope you enjoy the photos!
Until next time,
Antonina

Hi, may I ask when you visited Lavender Valley last year? I am planning a trip to Portland but unsure if I should go in mid-July or in mid-June to see the peak bloom 🙂
Absolutley! We visited august 3rd and the valley was in full bloom. Hope this helps 🙂
Good morning! I am going to Lavender Valley on July 29 and so excited! What time of day were your pictures taken?
Thank you!
